Counselling & Referral Services
At times the journey through high school can be a little rocky. Situations may arise in students' personal lives that make it difficult to concentrate on school assignments or interfere in their ability to make or keep satisfying friendships with their peers.
Students may find themselves feeling a little lost, unsettled, angry or sad...without always knowing how they came to feeling that way. The Guidance Counsellor is available to meet with students and provide support and strategies to help them navigate the difficult times. As a member of the Student Services Team, the Guidance Counsellor can help provide access to other in-school and community-based professionals including a Psychologist, a Social Worker and a Nurse. The Student Services team at MAC works together with the rest of the school staff to help provide a safe and caring environment where students can find help when they need it. Students younger than 14 years old, will need to have a CONSENT FORM completed by their parents in order to consult with the Guidance Counsellor, older students must give their own consent.
